the australian swing talk board crashed today. inside sources give no ETA for a revived board.
swingers across the country are suddenly isolated.
... well, i'm not so sure they're isolated, but there are - literally - a couple hundred dancers who can't waste time crapping on about dance stuff to dancers sitting about sooking at this very moment.
even more dire: the supermoderator's other sites are all hosted on the same server, so they've all gone down as well. the fact that i regularly use these sites in my work is kind of CRAP. but i'm not complaining. too much. i have posted a notice on FSP and will keep an eye on the sitch.
Posted by Dogpossum on July 19, 2005 09:21 PMhello. I've only just found your stuff and I am wadeing through the dance bits and PhD. Good work.
When I was young my parents ran a fortnightly dance - modern and old time , so I learnt (not very well) Fox Trot, Gypsy Tap and Pride of Erin as well as Lances and others. I've thought I'd like to learn a bit of swing but it seems to have morphed into a young fit persons' sport and clubby thing (perhaps thats the Australian way) rather than a social musical drinking smoking [& drug taking:)] thing. I'm more in love with the hot music of Louis Jordan and jump musics and Stephane and Western Swing than the dance per se.
Keeep writing - I'll eventually read it all.
