Empress mandarins

that's where it's at.
mandies are in season, and everyone has a special favourite. i like empress's because they're larger, they're not as sweet, they may be a little harder to get into, but the more orangey taste is worth it. i know i'm actually an orange person rather than a mandarin person and the Empress proves it.
i used to be an Imperial person (related to the Empress?) - i like the big, loose skin - but not so much any more. they seemed to be better in queensland.
so i'm an Empress person now.
