questions i was asked about dancing in tasmania that have caught my interest: some 'rules'

My basic ‘rules’ for swing dancing:
- small steps. Keep your weight over your feet all the time by using smaller steps. Usually, they’re about hip or shoulder width. If you lead a big step, leads, the follow will have to take a matching big step. This will stuff up her balance and crumple your connection.
- Bounce. Pulse. Whatever you call it. Without this, you will have to steal your energy/momentum from somewhere. You’re also more likely to yank without bounce. Follows yank too.
- Keep your feet parallel.
- Keep your weight on the ball of your feet
- Look up. Look down and you’ll fall down. It’ll stuff up your balance at the very least. Look at your hot partner.
- Dance crazy spastic dancing as often as you can: all this technical stuff can be tiresome.
