last night we had excellent seafood. tasmania = land of fish.
this is a lovely stir fry the cheeze made.
Here's the fish before:
just a slab of flake, but hotdamn it was some good stuff. wonderfully fresh, wonderfully yum. from one of the fish punts down in salamanca.
and here's dave, cooking. understandably distracted by the amazing view of the mountain from the kitchen.
we have some scallops and some pink ling for dinner tonight, which i'm supposed to be cooking (marinated, grilled and served with salad and stuff i think).
tonight we're going out to dance the hippity hop with scotti and some other lovely taswegians after dinner, and possibly with drinks at a bar or pub. this will be fun fun fun.
tomorrow we're booked for a friend's wedding reception in the pm, so we'll no doubt either do more house stuff or else go walking tomorrow. we are terribly slack this holiday: lots of interest in sitting about and sleeping. and now the spa is fixed, we could add lots of wallowing to that to-do list.
sunday (egg day) we will eat mucho ham with the p's, then off to see a band called the 'cake walking babies' in the pm. they're supposed to be a dixie-esque band, which is reassuring, given the title.
a few taswegians are interested in getting together to do dancey stuff at some point, 20s charleston esp, so it might be a good idea to do it sunday afternoon before the band, so we can then go take our new skills to the dance floor immediately.
i will have to scrape my memory for 20s charleston stuff. i know about 0 partner charleston moves (well, beyond the 'basic' in closed, the charleston 'swingout'/breakaway, tandem charleston and the turn) so it will probably be all solo stuff. but i agree with peter loggins with the strong belief that you should be able to dance alone if you expect to be able to dance with others. and besides, solo 20s charleston/blackbottom, etc is my absolute favourite at the moment... if only i'd been able to copy all my dance clips to this computer... then i'd have been able to show them the stuff and then work through them.
so if you're reading this, crinkle or d, do you want to email me the leon james and al minns 'demo' clips (big apple, camel walk, etc), the clip from after seben of whatsit doing the breakaway/charleston swingout and maybe film yourselves doing all the charleston you remember, so i can show these people what we know? or what you know, rather.
ahhaha!
how cool: i will definitely enjoy this session. i have to learn all these tricky things as well!
ok, so after all that on sunday, we have monday. it's aholiday, and i think we should go walking. in the pm we may do the dance stuff instead, or else it'll be nice to have dinner out with the p's. we leave on tuesday, so it'll be a moderate day then.
we have mucho catching up to do with nice tasmanian people over the weekend, so we'll have to get our sloth in now.
