i read a few blogs whenever i want to procrastinate, most of them by women. i tend to prefer blogs that are updated regularly, but i make exception for great ones that aren't by such prolific authors.
i like 6 impossible things because it's by a woman in melbourne, and is very dry-wit.
i read dooce because she's funny, writes well and posts a lot. she also swears a lot, talks about really-private-things (sex, poo, vaginas, depression and being hospitalised for depression, etc) and makes me laugh. she also has a small child, is in her mid-late 30s and is middle class.
i like fussy for similar reasons, if not a little more because she's not quite as full of herself as dooce. well, i don't know about that, but i like her more. she and dooce are americans in america.
i like mig because he's funny and humble, and while he has depression as well, it's something that's handled in a way i like. he's also a Writer, and not afraid to be Creative. he's also a parent. but with 2 girls. and he's an american in sweden. or is it austria?
i like flea because she's a mum with young kids (one of whom is ADD or autistic or something), funny and runs a sex shop with her husband (which features rarely). another american in america.
i like frog because she can be funny, but also quite romantic and pishwy. she's an american christian lesbian living in america who likes kids, has depression (theme here?) and writes interesting things.
ones i don't read so much but like:
i like american robin because she has an interesting life. she's an american living in africa (i think). she also posts nice photos. not so big on the funny, but big on the interesting life thing.
loobylu is another 30-something-with-kid woman, but she's in melbourne and an illustrator, so her blog is beautiful. it's a bit boring, so i don't read too much. but i like the pictures.
feministing is a blog with multiple authors about feminist issues. sort of a magazine thing. american again, but interesting.
tirade is a blog by an illustrator who works for pixar. it always has interesting links and beautiful pictures. worth looking at.
bitch phd is an academic woman blog (see above Type: woman with young child). i don't read it much, but it's an interesting variant.
daddy zine is an interesting variant on the stay-home-mother who blogs like a fool and writes like the bomb. american again. but nice reading. he's a stay-home dad whose wife is an academic. he also sums up blogging generally with the comment about his own fears-for-his-interestingness with
In short, at times I fear that I have been left with little more than a fund of domestic anecdote.
a couple of erotica-themed blogs that i have read but actually get a bit bored by:
belle de jour was famous for a while. she's a sex worker in london. possibly. she might also be made-up.
tristan. quite explicit, so no kiddies and not-at-work. interesting because it's run by an american lesbian who's a specialist on anal sex. yes.
I wish everybody do his job like you do
