kingdom of heaven

i'm assuming this new ridley scott film kingdom of heaven is about the crusades.
i'm wondering how it'll read in the current international political climate. anglo-europeans invading the middle east on a wave of righteous (and religious) fervour...

I spoke to someone last night who saw the film. They said it looks FANTASTIC, but not much of a story or angle.

It was sorta "War is bad. There is no wrong god/religons, just wrong men." Thinly.

And the guy said that Orlando was no Russell, while the girl said he was HOT!

anyway, i've been watching Gladiator just to remind myself (and because the Squeeze said he hadn't seen it). we'll see about kingdom of heaven.
